I have read “FREE FROM SIN” and thoroughly enjoyed its content. The writings therein are so alive that it is one book that once you begin you can’t put it down. Mrs. Scopelite’s style of writing is one wholly inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. I’ve read her first publication also, and just as “THE LORD AND I” denotes her close relationship with Jesus Christ, “FREE FROM SIN”
shows a much greater intensity of the revelation of the Holy Spirit evident in her life and study of God’s Most Holy Scriptures. I truly recommend it as one book you wouldn’t want to neglect to read.
God bless you, and enjoy!

My friends this is not just another book filled with kilt stories. This is a book to help you to prepare for that glorious day, when Christ will appear in heaven. You will find in it, the Ten Commandments and other Bible verses. Anything that is quoted from the Bible is sacred, and should be read with respect and reverence. Please! Never read God's word without praying first, even if it is just one line. So, when you get to a Bible quotation, don't continue reading haphazardly, but stop and pray. Ask God for knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Otherwise the enemy will give you his wrong interpretation. Some of the quotations might have only four words, like for instance, Exodus 20:13, that says:
“Thou shall not kill." These are only four words, but they were written with the finger of God, and they are very sacred. They must be read with total reverence. You must stop, slow down, pray, and meditate, so you can receive God's blessing. For example, you can ask yourself if you are breaking this commandment. Remember that to hate is already killing in your heart, just as when a man looks at a woman and lust after her, he has already committed adultery with her in his heart. The same thing is true with hate. If you hate somebody; you are already committing murder in your heart.
FREE FROM SIN
In Revelation 12:7-12 we read:
“And there was war in heaven Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come Salvation, and Strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the Power of his Christ: For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him By the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of the testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwells in them.
Woe to the inhibitors of the earth and of the sea! For the Devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”
Now that we know that Satan is not in heaven, let us close our eyes, and take a trip back in time and up to heaven.
Imagine now that we are in heaven and we have a special seat to just observe what is taking place there. We see a great white transparent throne with a glorious, splendorous, halo of many colors—that is the throne of the Holy Spirit. Inside of this throne are two other thrones made of gold; adorned with diamonds, rubies, sapphire, and all kinds of precious jewels. One throne was larger than the other. The larger throne was for the Father, the smaller for the Son, as I can imagine it.
Suddenly, we see two lords walking to their respective thrones. We notice that their faces are absolutely identical like identical twins, and one is taller than the other. The taller Lord is God the Father, and the shorter Lord is God the Son. Then we hear the Son saying to the Father:
“Father, look at the earth! We made the earth so perfect, but look at it now. It is so gray and polluted with sin. Father, I want to set the earth free from their sins.
“Father, there will be many people born that I want to save, and give them eternal life. Yet, there is only one solution to this problem. Only blood cleanses sin. So, Father, I want to go down there and cleanse the earth from their sins.
“I want to shed my blood, and clean the earth”. Then he said to the Father: “Could you, please, let me go? Will you let me go, Father?”
Then we hear the most glorious and sweet voice that we could ever hear. We are amazed at the sweetness of the voice of the Lord the Son, and now we hear an even sweeter voice, the voice of GOD The Father. We hear Him say to the Son: “Yes, Son. You may go there, and free the people of the earth from their sins with your own blood, in the death of the cross."
The father loves the Son, so He is very grieved to let His only Son go down to a polluted world, and die for their sins, so that the people on earth might be saved. We are still there sitting on our observatory seat, and we see the Father and the Son embracing each other and saying good bye. Then we notice the glory of many colors, which is the Holy Spirit, circling around the Son, and we see the Son disappearing out of sight. This has been a complete metamorphosis, for the Lord God the Son, has just been transformed into a tiny seed.
Now, a question arises in my mind: Could it be possible that the Son, being God himself, remained conscious inside of that tiny seed? How big was the sacrifice? This is a question that I have to wait until the second coming of Christ to ask Him.
After this we return to the earth and continue to observe. The Holy Spirit brings that tiny seed down to the earth, and finds a virgin named Mary who has ever wished that she might be chosen to be the Messiah’s mother. She has completely given her life to God. The Holy Spirit then places this tiny seed inside of Mary. The Holy Spirit and God the Son now stay inside of her. We read this in Luke 1:35.
For nine long months the Son of God waits to be born. Was He conscious? I think not. I think that the Father in His infinite mercy caused the Son to have a long sleep. Otherwise, Christ would have been a prisoner inside of a woman’s body. How big was the sacrifice? The sacrifice might have been bigger than we could ever comprehend.
I know the story of an autistic child that learned to write in a computer, and described himself as a prisoner inside of his own body. He said that when some people would say, “Hi!” to him; he would say, “Hi!” to them in his mind, but he was never able to verbalize it. He said that he would have complete conversations with Jesus in his mind. He would spend a long time thinking, because he could not speak. He taught himself how to read, entered and finish high school, and today he is planning to go to college, but he is still autistic and cannot speak. Now, my question is: Was Jesus a prisoner inside Mary? Could He think? Oh, friends, I do not know the answer to these questions now, but the day will come when He will reveal all these things to us. He was never alone. The Holy Spirit stayed with Him the whole time, even inside of Mary.
After nine long months King Jesus was born, yet the same question comes to my mind: Did He know that He was God the Son and that was here to shed His blood for my sins? I think that because of the Father’s great love He allowed His Son to be temporarily unaware of whom He was.
As the Father looks down on the earth, He notices that Satan is planning to kill baby Jesus. He sends an angel to tell Joseph, Mary’s spouse, to take baby Jesus to another country, the land of Egypt.
Can you imagine Joseph and Mary taking a new baby on a trip of many miles away from their home? I do not know how they did that. Maybe they walked all the way there, or maybe they took a ship at Ascalon, and sailed to Egypt. Whatever way they went must have been very hard for a brand new baby. Now, imagine them arriving at Egypt, a land that spoke another language, different from the language they spoke. I think that God the Father sent someone to them that could speak their language and help them to be settle like renting a house and getting food. They stayed in Egypt for two or three years. Then God the Father saw that Herod had died and sent another angel to tell them to go back to Israel. This was another trip for little King Jesus to make when he was still so little. Because Joseph was afraid of Herod’s son Archelaus, God the Father told him in a dream that he should go through the way of Galilee, and so he did. They went 70 or 80 miles north; near the Sea of Galilee, to the city of Nazareth. Here King Jesus stayed for about 27 years.
I do not know how old He was when he first realized that He was the Son of God, but I know that when He was 12, He knew exactly who He was. I know that, because of His answer to His mother at the temple. Luke 2:48,49:
“And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? Behold thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
“And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”
Oh, friends, I cannot read this without tears in my eyes. Even at the early age of 12 He already knew that He was here to die the death of the cross. No one knows the intensity of that sacrifice. Then the years were passing so slowly. As God, He could have the years pass faster, and He would not have to wait for such a horrible thing. But, if He had done that, how would He know what problem someone 13 and 14 year olds has but going through that himself? Not only 12 and 13, but also every year that a human has to pass through, Jesus passed too. He knew all the sufferings of a person, because He was there also.
I can see Jesus at 17. I believe that every day he would get up earlier than everybody else, so He could spend time talking to His Father in heaven. Then He would go to work with his earthly father and brothers. I think that when they worked, they talked about mundane things, and Jesus would not participate with them in those conversations. He quietly would talk to his Father in heaven, and ask Him to forgive them.
I think that after He finished working with his earthly father; He would go up to the mountains to commune with His Father above. Perhaps it was on those occasions that He prepared His sermons for the future; when He would teach His disciples the way of heaven, and eternal life. I know that the Devil wanted to kill Jesus as a baby, when he caused Herod to kill all the babies, thinking that among the babies King Jesus would be found. However, the Father did not allow that to happen. Because, if Jesus had died as a baby, we would not have the map that He left with His disciples that shows us the way to heaven.
For many years He worked with His earthly father. Then, at the age of 30, He retired from carpentry and went full time in the Heavenly Father’s ministry. He left His home in Nazareth, and moved to a city by the Sea of Galilee, called Capernaum. There He started his ministry.
It really amazes me how He started to gather His disciples. He walked around the see of Galilee, and found two persons fishing. He said to them: “follow me!” Immediately, these two brothers dropped their nets and followed Him. I think that His voice made them realize that this was not just another person, but the Holy Spirit revealed to them that He, Jesus, was the son of God, the Messiah they were waiting for. No person is going to leave his or her job to follow a stranger. They must have felt sure about this person in order to respond so quickly. A simple phrase, yet so powerful—“follow me!” That is what he said to all His disciples. And follow they did. For three years He instructed them on what to do to obtain eternal life. Up in the very mountains where He walked before, He gave His most famous sermon of Matthew 5, known today as, “The Sermon on the Mountain.”
After three years his mission had been accomplished. His disciples now knew what they should teach us, and how to prepare us for His return to earth. They saw Him hanging on the cross of Calvary. I can imagine how brokenhearted they were. But I can also imagine how thrilled they were when the victory was attained—Jesus, after three days resurrected from the dead.
They also saw him go up to heaven. The price was paid, and we were set free to chose, to be or not to be, “Free From Sin.”
COULD I BE FREE FROM SIN?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
God said that whosoever believeth in Him might be saved. Then, to be saved all we need to do is to believe, and He will do the rest. But, can a person be free from sinning in this world? I have to say, yes, or Jesus sacrifice would have been in vain. Yes, my friends, it is possible. Jesus left heaven to make us free from sin. I believe that if I give my heart to God in a complete surrender He will help me not to sin. It is like this: I have it, but not yet. Unfortunately, the Devil makes sure that I keep on sinning. I cannot wait until I see Jesus, then I know that I will be free from sinning.
In my entire life I have never seen a person who was free from sin. The closest person to get free from sin that I have ever seen was my youngest son Pasqual. I would never say that he was free from sinning. I would only say that he was almost there, and that was when he was a little boy. Up to now, the only one free from sin, was Jesus, yet, He said to us to be perfect, in Matthew 5: 48. He says:
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
So, if Jesus said to be perfect, it is because it is possible to be that. So, why aren’t we perfect? Is it because we don’t want to do what is right all the time? Or is it because there is fun in sinning? Whatever the reason, it is not right. When Jesus said for us to be perfect, it is just that—we must become perfect.
When my son Pasqual was 2 years old, he loved to hear Bible stories, and he memorized all the memory verses for that year. At the end of the year he would get up on the rostrum of the church and recite all 12 verses. I sat on the front and from my seat I would show him the picture rolls. When he saw the pictures, he would know what memory verse went with that particular picture. He was totally unabashed. When he was four years old, he was nicknamed “The prayer boy.” We were at camp meeting at that time, and every time the department teacher asked for a prayer volunteer, my son would be the first one to raise his hands. He got to do many prayers while we were there. When my husband and I went to the children’s division to pick him up, the teachers would say to us: “Oh! Are you the parents of our “Prayer boy?” And we proudly responded: “Yes, we are.” Then they would praise him for his beautiful prayers.
At the age of five he got up in front of about one or two hundred children, and with a microphone in his left hand and his right hand in the air above his head, showing his little fist; he would tell all the children about Jesus’ Second Coming. He would begin his talk like this: “And a black cloud, the size of a man’s hand will appear in the sky. And the cloud will get closer, and closer, and bigger and bigger, until we could all see that the cloud was made of angels. Then, right in the middle of the cloud, Jesus, the Son of God, will be.” He did not have to many talks after that, but he became a gifted singer, and sang at almost every school event.
When he finished the eighth grade, he went to Broadview Academy in La Fox, Illinois. Many times I went to see him there. During those visits we ate in the cafeteria. Sometimes I picked up a piece of cake to eat for dessert, and he would say to me: “Mother why are you eating that unhealthful food. You know that this piece of cake was made with milk, sugar and eggs, and that is one of the most unhealthful combination of foods that ever was. Please, mother don’t eat that. Do as I do, get a piece of watermelon, or an apple. These are sweet also, but they are not harmful for you.”
Instead of a mother teaching her son, the son was teaching his mother. Before the school was over, the students made him “President of the Student’s Association.” For a student, this was the most honorable position they could get. Yet, the most important thing he did at school was to preach a sermon in the school’s church in the Lord’s day, just before graduation.
Some time ago a person was talking to me, and said: “Are you still writing that book “Free From Sin?”
Me- “Yes I am. You know, it takes a long time to write a book. I am almost finished with it in handwriting, but it will be a long time yet for me to finish typing it. I do not type very fast. I really type very slow.”
Her: -“Free From Sin?” Do you know, for me it is impossible to stop sinning? I was born a sinner, and it is man’s nature to sin. I do not believe that God expects us not to sin, when He knows that this is our nature. Only God can be free from sinning. So, if I say a little lie here and there or if I fall in some other temptation God is not going to keep me out of heaven because of that. I can always repent and He will forgive me. Like the church fellows I date. They all tell me that if we commit adultery without planning for that God will always forgive us. Only as long as it just happens without planning, then God will forgive us. On the other hand, if you plan to sin, then God will not forgive because it was a planned sin. That is real bad. Don’t you think so?”
Me- “What if you die while sinning, and cannot say that you are sorry to God? Then, what will happen to you in the resurrection? Are you going to be saved or damned?”
Her- “Oh, I don’t know about that. I never heard of anybody dying while they were having sex. But even then God would remember that we were born in sin, and with a sinful nature and would forgive us. Yes, I would still go to heaven.”
Me- ” That is certainly a huge risk to take, don’t you think? Yes, we are born in sin, and with a sinful nature, but it is still possible to be sin free.
Christ came here to die for us, and to show us that it is possible to be sin free. He was born in the same manner we are born, and yet He did not sin. If Christ could do it then, you and I can do it also. He said that we can be perfect, and all we have to do is to keep focus on Him, and He will give you the power to be sin free. I know that no one can be “Temptation free,” but we all can be “Sin free,” if we confess our sins to God, and keep our focus on Jesus. If we plan to stay sin free, God will send us a number of angels to help us to stay free. He said in Psalms 34:7, that “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.” This “deliverance” is not just from danger, but it is from sinning also. If you cry to Him for help, He will see to it that you get the help, even if it is from falling into temptation. Look at the power that He has provided for us. Read in Luke 10:19, here is what it says: “Behold, I give unto you Power to tread on serpents and scorpions, And Over All the Power or the Enemy: and nothing shall by any means HURT you.”
Her- “Oh yes, but that does not include Temptation.”
Me- “Yes, it does include “Temptation.” He gave us “Power Over The Enemy,” also, where do you think the enemy exercises his power? Don’t you know that the only power he enjoys exercising on us is tempting us that we may fall into sin?” If God gave us “Power Over the Enemy” it must mean that we have “Power over Temptation” also.
Her- “That is all new to me. I never heard that before. Why doesn’t the minister preach about that so everybody can know these things?”
Me- “They do, preach about that, you just don’t remember. Do you know that my son Pasqual when he was a little boy never got a spanking?”
Her- “NO! All little boy gets spankings. How could Pasqual escape that?”
ME- “Very simple, he never did anything to deserve a spanking.
Once he came home covered with mud. I said to him: “Pasqual what happened to you?
Pasqual:-“The children from that white house over there threw all this mud at me.”
Me- “The next time they throw mud at you, you throw mud at them also.”
Pasqual -“Mother! I cannot do that. That would hurt them, and I can’t hurt them mother.”
He was six years old at that time. That is only one example of what kind of child he was. I just never found a reason to spank him. I could see plainly the Holy Spirit in him. Thanks to God, I could see the Holy Spirit woring in all my children when they were little.
My son, Gio, learned to read directly from the Holy Spirit. He was only two and half years old when he started to read, and nobody taught him. He had the most unusual sense of direction that I have ever seen in a child. Once, my sister took him with her to go visit a needy person, and when she got there she had a hard time finding the house. The person lived in a house project where all the houses looked exactly the same; even the doors were painted the same color. A month later she went to visit the same person, and again she took my son Gio with her. He was five years old at that time. When they got there, my sister opened her purse to get the number of the house and found out that she had left the address book in a different purse. While she was looking for the address, Gio had gone to the house, and was waiting for her.
Gio- “Come on, this is the house we came to the other time.”
My sister knocked at the door to ask the people if they knew where the person lived. You can not imagine her surprise when the same person opened the door. I know that only the Spirit of God could teach him those things.
My daughter Liliana was the same as Gio. At the age of four, she learned how to read in one week. After that she could read everything. She also was filled with God’s Spirit. She had so much compassion in her. She used to tell me when she was a teenager; that if someone killed somebody it was because they were provoked to that. If they were left alone they would not commit the crime. Today you can see the Holy Spirit in her, especially when she plays the piano. Her fingers just fly over the keyboard, and the sound produced is so melodious that one feels as though he was in heaven listening to the angels. I know that it is the Spirit of God in her that makes her play like that.
Many people think that Jesus did not sin because He was also God. Let me tell you, Jesus was as much subject to sinning as we are, the only difference is that He did not sin. He had the same choices that we do. He chose not to sin. Just like the other worlds, they could sin also, because they too had the opportunity to sin or not, yet they choose not to disobey God. They are still holy like the angels.
Back to the lady again.
Her- “Well that is all very good, but it is not for me. Maybe your children can be filled with the Holy Spirit, but I am not. I cannot tell only the truth no matter how much I try. I always end up lying. The real truth scares me. Do you think that God can help me?”
Me- “Yes God can help you, all you have to do is let Him lead you. Here is a little suggestion. I am going to teach a real fast prayer: all you have to do is squeeze your little finger, and God will know the code. Here it is.
This is really a prayer code for when you are in a situation that requires a very fast prayer. Then, you use this code, because all you have to do is press your little finger. See God knows what you need in that moment even better than you do. Maybe you might be saying: “Please Lord, free me from this temptation.” Or, you might be saying: “Lord save my life!” Or, “Lord, please give me the power you promised in Luke 10:19.”
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
But, whatever the situation, the Lord will know exactly what you need, and He will help you in just one quick squeeze of the little finger. If the need is for help to stop lying, after you squeeze the little finger you tell the real truth regardless of the consequences. I guarantee you that after you tell the truth a few times, you will get the hang of it, and you will form a habit of telling the truth. When that habit is formed, you will abhor a lie so much that the time will come when you will find it impossible for you to tell a lie. Even when we give a wrong impression, we are lying. Some other times we might want to squeeze our little finger just to tell Him that we love Him.
I do not know if this person followed my advice or not, but that is between her and the Lord. Dear reader if you have that problem try the little finger prayer. Jesus can receive a prayer code like that, and He is anxiously waiting for you to do it. All we have to do is squeeze the little finger, and He will give us the answer.
Lying and gossips are not the only problems in our church today. There is a prevailing sin in our church that is absolutely overlooked because no one knows what kind of evil is going on in the church member’s home. Husbands and wives are not staying in their boundaries about sex. I am not talking about adultery. I am talking about the evil that some choose to follow. God made our bodies with its parts for a definite purpose. The heart to send the blood to the whole body; the stomach to digest the food, and nothing else, and the mouth for speaking, singing, and eating. We cannot change these functions of our bodies without displeasing God. I have some friends that confided in me and said that to please their spouses they were doing more than a wife should do. When husbands and wives go beyond their reproducing methods, they are pleasing the devil, not God. I know of two women that lost their husbands because they refused to submit themselves to such a low action. God was pleased with these ladies and blessed them. Years later their husbands died painful deaths. I hope and pray that they had time to repent before they died, or they will not enter the pearly gates.
In order to enter those pearly gates, we must be free from sinning regardless of how little the sin.
One of our major problems today is over-eating. Often, I see people putting food on their plates that look more like a mountain than food. If you do not believe me, just go to one of our famous potluck dinners, and see what I am talking about.
A year or so ago a friend of mine came over to visit me. When he came, I was working in my workshop. I told him to make himself feel at home and talk to me while I worked. I was painting the walls, so I did not need to concentrate my thoughts to do that job. While my hands worked, my mind was free to talk. In that room I had a metal day bed, and a couch. Because the day bed was closer to me, he chose to sit on the day bed, rather than on the couch. Poor fellow, his weight was too much for the bed, and the whole thing flopped down. He was quick enough to jump and not fall with the bed. He did not get hurt, but my bed was completely broken. He was so embarrassed. I told him not to feel bad about the bed, but he should feel sorry for his overweight body. I did not ask him very much about his weight that day, but on another occasion I asked him if he did not mind talking to me about his weight. He said he would tell me anything I wanted to know. I also explained to him that I was writing a book, and that I would not use his real name. Then he said to me: “I want you to call me, Sam.”
Me- “OK, I will call you Sam. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions about your extra weight?”
Sam- “You don’t need to be afraid to call it FAT. I am used to that, and it doesn’t bother me. I will tell you anything you want to know. Just address me the questions and I will give you the answers.
Me- “As long as you don’t mind answering my questions, do you mind telling me how much you weigh?”
Sam- “The last time I weighed myself it was about 280 pounds.
”Me- “How tall are you?”
Sam- “I think I am 5’7 or somewhere around that.”
Me- “Were you always...”
Sam- “Fat? Don’t be afraid to call me fat; everybody else does. I am used to that, so, it does not bother me any more. Go ahead, call me fat.”
Me- “Ok, I will repeat the question. Were you always fat?”
Sam- “NO! I was born a skinny baby. I was real skinny all the way up to the age of 12. After I was 12 my mother went on a sweet spree and she baked cakes, cookies, pies, and all kinds of sweets, and she let me and my sister eat as much as we wished. That is why we gained all this weight. My sister is much heavier than I, and she is only 5’1.
”Me- “Are you in a weight loss program?”
Sam- “No, I can’t be in one. I have to take some medications for my nervous condition, and the medication says right on the label that it increases the appetite. So, how could I control my appetite when my medicine increases it? I would not have the self control for that any way.”
Me- “Why are you taking medications for your nervousness? Couldn’t you just give all your problems to the Lord?
Sam- “Are you kidding? I have to take my medication. If I don’t take them, I fly off my lid. I get real angry, vicious, and I become completely crazy. You didn’t know that, did you? Now you know that I am crazy. I became crazy after a got real fat; all the children at school made fun of me, and I couldn’t handle that and became crazy.”
Me- “That is a real sad story.”
Sam- “When I was a little boy, I was real intelligent and I had my mind made up that I was going to be a doctor when I grew up. I studied hard, and I got straight A’s. After I got fat I still got A’s but some of the kids got jealous of me and started to call me fat. I had three years of pre-med. when they were calling me fat, and making fun of me. For a while I ignored them, but later it got to me so bad that I lost my control and became crazy. After I got crazy, I had to quit studying and was placed in a Mental Hospital. When I got out of the hospital, I couldn’t go back to school because of all the medication I took. The medication made me very tired, and all I could do was sleep and eat. I lost all my hopes of becoming a medical doctor. That is my whole story. Is there anything else you want to know?”
Me: - “Sam! I am so sorry. I did not mean to open up old wounds when I started asking you these questions. Please forgive me. I hope that somehow I will be able to help you. I am going to place you on my prayer list.
I am praying for Sam, but he needs to make some changes in his life. He told me that his mother was very unhappy when they were skinny, and that was why she started making all those sweets so her children could gain weight. Now the question arises in my mind; how does God looks at a situation like that? Is it a sin to be that much overweight? Does Sam’s mother have to answer for Sam’s suffering in the judgement day? Is the Lord going to hold Sam responsible for his own weight problem? In part, I am sure he will have to be responsible. What is the answer to these questions? I believe that we have to wait until the Lord comes to tell us all these things. Last week I was in the school’s library typing, when a pretty large woman came over and sat to the computer next to mine. I looked at her and felt that she was the perfect person for an interview for my book. I did not even know the woman, and here I was planning to interview her on such a tender subject as over-weight. Let’s call her Tina.
Me: --“Hi! Are you studying to be a nurse?”
Tina: -“Yes, I am, are you.”
Me: --“No, I am taking computer. I am in the secretarial course, but I have no plans to ever be a secretary.”
Tina: -“What are you going to be?”
Me: --“Well, that is a tough question, but I think I want to be a student the rest of my life.
Tina: -“Why do you want to do that?”
Me: --“Oh! I like studying so much, that I never want to quit learning. By the way, my name is Clelia Scopelite. What is yours? She told me her name.”
Tina: -“What are you typing. Is it a lesson for your computer class?”
Me: --“No. I am writing a book. I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions, so I can put them in my book. See I was just writing about weight when you came in. Am I embarrassing you?”
Tina: -“Oh no, you are not embarrassing me.”
Me: -“Ok, how tall are you?”
Tina: -“I am 5’1”.
Me: --“How much do you weigh?”
Tina: -“Well, well, Huh, Hun. I, I, well, well, Huh, Hun.”
Me: --“Forget this question. Are you in any kind of diet to lose weight?”
Tina: -“No! I eat everything I like, even sweets. I know that they are not the best for me, but I eat them anyway. If I like something, I eat it. Maybe some day I will try to lose some of my extra weight, but not now.”
Me: --“Did people ever make fun of you because of your weight?”
Tina: -“Yes, people make fun of me all the time.
”Me: --“Does that bother you?”
Tina: -“Not any more, but it used to bother me a lot, before I got over it.
Me: --“Are you in a weight-control program?”
Tina: -“No, didn’t you say before that you are writing a book? If you are, what is the book’s name?”
I noticed that she had changed the subject, so I became very cautious of what I should say next, so I just simply answered her question.
Me: ---“Yes I am writing a book, the name of the book is Free From Sin.
Tina: -“Oh! Is it a sin to be fat?”
Me: ---“For me YES, but for you NO.”
Tina: -“How could that be, that for you yes, and for me no?”
Me: ---“See, I know many laws of health, and I have been warned by doctors that I must stay away from fat foods; I have a high cholesterol count, and most likely your cholesterol is normal and your doctor has not advised you to be careful with fatty foods. So, for me it is a sin, but for you, it is not. I am also a vegetarian. Do you understand what I mean?”
Tina: -“No, I don’t. But I know that Jehovah understands everything.”
Me: --“Are you a Jehovah’s witness?”
Tina: -“Yes I am. Are you a Seventh-day Adventist?”
Me: --“Yes I am.
Tina: -“I got to go to class right now. See you later?”
Me: ---“Thank you so much for letting me ask you all those questions, I will see you later.”
I wonder how God sees a situation like Tina’s. Is overweight a sin? Is food another God. I had a cousin that was a diabetic, and he never stopped eating sweets. He finally died because of that. Friends, if appetite is your God, please, do not lose your salvation because of food. Save your appetite for heaven. There will be so much food there, and nobody will get over-weight.
I often wonder how God looks at making fun of people. Generally, fat people are one of the first targets. I have seen children making fun of other children for all kinds of reasons. I had a deaf child staying with my family for a while. He told me about the people that made fun of him; because he could not hear well, and because he also had a speech problem. I think that this trend of making fun of others must be started right in the homes. If parents were careful not to allow it to go on in their homes, this problem would not get so big with children. I think that children look for anything different to make fun of another child. I remember when I was little and was made fun of, because I went to church on a different day. All the rest of my classmates went to church on Sunday. This is another thing that will not be in heaven.
1. “And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain: and when He was set, His disciples came unto Him:
2. And He opened His mouth, and taught them, saying;
3. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4. Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comcomforted.
5. Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.
6. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.
7. Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.
8. Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.
9. Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God.
10. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11. Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
I BELIEVE IN MATTHEW 5
Once I was talking with a friend, and the subject of Matthew 5 came up. He said that Matthew 5 was written for the olden days, and did not apply for our living today whatsoever. So I asked him if he was a Seventh-day Adventist, and he said:
"Of course I am, but that has nothing to do with Matthew 5."
Me- “If Matthew 5 is not for our days, then neither are the Ten Commandments, right?"
Him:- "Oh no! The Ten Commandments are for our time also, they are a part of one of the pillars in our doctrine. But Matthew 5 is not, it was only for the ancient days. For instance, "an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" is no longer observed. Those things were finished at the cross. Let me tell you, this thing of striking on the other cheek is not for me. If someone strikes me first, he will find himself flat on the floor, and I would not be sinning either. That would have been in self-defense. Even in the court I would be recognized as free. Don't be so old fashiond!"
Me:-- "I don't agree with that philosophy at all. I believe that God would not send His Son into the world to teach things that pertained only to His time. Don't you see that the commandments are explained in Matthew 5?"
Him:- "No, I don't care what you or anybody else says. I just cannot believe that God expects me to turn the other cheek.”
I changed the subject because I could see that I was not getting anywhere. I love this chapter so much that I just could not see or hear somebody putting it down, especially verses 25 and 26. I remember the first time I saw these verses, how it made a deep impression in my mind. I had read that chapter so many times, and had gone through these verses without noticing their deep meaning. Then one day, as I was reading them, suddenly these verses jumped out at me as if they were trying to get out of the pages and say to me: "Look at me! I am here and you never noticed me before!" I read verse 25, over and over again until I knew it by heart. But I kept wondering; why should we "AGREE WITH OUR ADVERSARY?" I did not have to wait very long to find out.
Shortly after I had read that verse I was placed in a situation somewhat dangerous. As I was facing my adversary I remembered the verse, and acted exactly as the Lord had taught me. I said to my adversary: "I agree with your terms."
After that, he went away without hurting me. Oh! How thankful I was to God who had taught me to agree with my adversary.
There was another time that something like that happened. My tenant came to see me about lowering the rent. I had no intentions of doing that when my tenant took his gun out of his pocket, and started to play with it. He kept talking to me and playing with his gun at the same time. Just about two weeks before I had heard on the news that a woman had been killed by her tenant over an argument about the rent. I sent a quick prayer to God and followed the advice of Matthew 5: 25. It was not easy to agree with one that asked such an unfair question. I knew that my tenant and his wife both had fairly good jobs, and the rent was already low for the size of the house they were renting. God doesn't give us wrong advice; He is always right. Perhaps he wanted to imitate the story on the news, or maybe he just wanted to intimidate me. Whatever his reason was I am glad that I knew about Matthew 5:25 because only God knew what was in his heart. So I lowered the rent, and he did not hurt me.
Once a man came to my house with some documents for me to sign. If I signed the documents I would lose a lot of money, but if I refused to sign the man promised that I would be very sorry. He told me what had happened to other people that didn't go along with him. I knew for a fact that the man in my house was a member of the Mafia. I knew the family, and one of their family members had told me openly that he belonged to the Mafia. I certainly did not want to give away my money, but my life was more important than money. Besides Matthew 5:25, I also thought of Isaiah 44:11, the last part. It says:"They that strive with thee shall perish." I knew what God had allowed to happen to the children that made fun of Elijah by calling him baldhead. I believe that God has angels guarding the people that love Him more than the people that don’t love him. He allowed those two she-bears to come out of the woods and tear forty-two children because of Elijah's curse on them (2 Kings 2:23-24).
I did not put a curse on that man like Elijah did to the children, but as I signed those papers I was thinking on what the Bible says in Isaiah 41:11, that if they strive against one of God's children, they would perish. I was also thinking of Matthew 5:25. I decided to agree with this adversary, and I signed all the papers. I lost a lot of money because of that, but I am still alive.
Later on I heard that the Mafia man that came to my house had been killed. I do not rejoice over anybody's death, even if they are my worse enemies. But I believe in every single word of the Lord.
Friends, Matthew 5 was really written for you and me. It saved my life. I thank the Lord for teaching us all those beautiful things Jesus spoke on top of that mountain the day He said those words of Matthew 5. I love them and I hope you love them too. Have faith in God.
TITHE? Should we pay or not 10% of our gains?
Examining Malachi 3:8-11. Verse 8 --“Will a man rob God?”
Note.: God did not say those htings just to the Israelites, or the people from Judah, or Israel, if a men rob God. No, God did not specify a particular people, but instead He spoke to men in general. But even if He specified saying: to my people of Judah and Israelites, don’t you think that He was talking to you and me also? O yes my friends, you, and I, we are all included in this statement from God.
“Yet you have robbed me.”You and I are robbing God if we don’t give Him His 10% of our income. Let’s continue:
“But you say, Wherein have we robbed Thee?” And then God answers “In tithes and offerings.” Then God curses us for robbing Him. Verse 9 -- “You are cursed with a curse: for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation.”
(Now God is showing His disappointment in His own people, and He says that even this whole nation is also robbing Him.
So you say, ha, ha, see God was talking to the old people, or to His people of Israel.
But I say to you, just a minute. Let’s see from the very beginning of the chapter if God was directing Himself just to the people of Israel or not.)
1--“ Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom you delight in: behold, He shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.”
2—“But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appeareth? For He is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:
(Note here my friend, that the Lord is not talking only to His people of old, but to all men. “But who may abide the
day of His coming?” Is not this referring to the Second Coming of the Lord? not just another day of the week, but the day that the Lord will come to gather His people?
Note also how He speaks of the day of His coming in Revelation 22:12)
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
(If Malachi 3:2 is talking to all men, then, verses 8-11 is talking to all men also.)
Malachi 3:3,4 “And He shall sit as a refiner and he shall purify of silver; and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.
4--“ Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
(Note here that the Lord Himself is saying that this is for the present, or He would not mention that they would be “as in the former years of old.” As for Judah and Jerusalem, could not be just a form of speech, as you can see the Bible like to use metaphors, for we know that God is not going to transform anyone literally in silver and gold, so when He is referring to my people of Judah and Israel, God is referring to all His people? Are we not the Israelites of today?)
5--“And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not Me, saith the Lord of hosts.”
(Compare that with Revelation 20:4 first part, and 21:8 and we will see that the judgment of God is going to take place at the end of the world when the Lord comes to judge His people.)
Revelation 20:4--- “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them:”
21:8 – But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake, which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Back to Malachi 3: 6,7 and 10&11
“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore you sons of Jacob (you) are not consumed.”
“Even from the days of your fathers you are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But you said, Wherein shall we return?”
(Now God gives us His answer; and also tell us that we must return to Him by paying Him our tithe and our offerings, and where we should place them.)
10—“Bring Me all the tithes into the storehouse,
(or,) (today we call it church, or the system.)
“that there may be meat in mine house,
(sustenance, for here, He is not referring to flesh.)
“and prove Me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11---“And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.”
(If you still think that this commandments and promises are just for the people of Israel, then the following chapter is only for them also, and only they shall be saved. If this is the case, them there will be no salvation for us, and Jesus death on the cross was also in vain, for we are not to be saved as He promised.)
“For the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the Day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.”
(Oh my friend, this promises and orders, are for all that fear the Lord. As for me, I fear the Lord and pay Him my tithe.
Lest year I was robbed in a total close to U$6,000.00 (six thousand
Dollars, and I became short of cash. I was not making any profit, so I decided not to pay my tithe until I received a profit.
When I started to receive a profit, I decided to pay back what I did not pay while I was waiting for a profit. Of course I could not afford to pay the whole sum of money at one time. I decided to make a deal with the Lord to pay Him back in installments pays. I truly believe that God accepted my plan, and is really blessing me.
I already have replaced most of everything that was robbed.
I am paying God for my back tithe about U$50.00 dollars a month.
It is not much, but God is not a tyrant and is happy even with a little effort of my part. This is a payment that I make after I have paid the present tithe. I am also behind in my offerings to my God, and that makes me very sad, to the point of tears coming down from my eyes. But with His help, I will bring everything up to date. Praise the Lord.
My friend, prove the Lord as He told you, and you will be surprised of the amount of blessings you will receive.
If you are also behind on your payment of tithe and offerings, you may do as I do, and give Him in stalled payments.
My dear friends, I do not have respect of persons, but I am not a debater or a prosecutor either. I am not here to tell you what you should or should not do. I am not here to condemn anyone that just sees the past as something of old, that has nothing to do with us. If Abraham paid his tithe with lambs, or even if he did not pay tithe, to me that does not mean that I have to ignore what God told me through his prophet Malachi. One word of God is sufficient for me.
I don’t need anyone’s example. All I need is to know that He wants me to do something. No matter what that something is, if it is tithe, or offering, very clearly said in Malachi, 3, or if is one of God’s commandments given to Moses in mount Sinai, that is exactly what I am going to do I chose to obey God, I hope you do too.
If Ellen G White paid her tithe or not, or even if the tithe was not a customary duty of the past, or even if the apostles did not pay the tithe, it does not erases the fact that God said in Malachi 3:8-11
that I should pay the tithe. Pay or give, there are no differences
in how you call it. You just bring it to the church, and place it in the offering plate. It is a pity that one person decides not to pay tithe and starts to dig out material that is really not relevant.
Ellen White is not here for me to ask her if she used her tithe the way she saw it fit or not. I don’t need her example, or anyone else’s example for me to do what is right, and do what the Lord wants me to do.
Even Jesus, said also that we should pay the tithe.
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these (judgment, mercy, and faith) ought you to have done, and not to leave the other (tithe) undone."
